REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY (DR.) ABUBAKAR  BUKOLA SARAKI, CON, PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE PDP CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE ON THE OSUN ELECTIONS, HELD IN ABUJA ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2018.

PROTOCOL.

1.     It is indeed a special privilege to have the opportunity of serving as Chairman of the Campaign Committee on the Osun Elections.

2.       On behalf of myself and every member of the Committee, I thank the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, for this opportunity. We thank also thank the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for the vote of confidence evidenced by our selection for this task.

3.   I believe I speak for every member of the Campaign Committee that we shall do our very best and leave no stone unturned in working to ensure that the Osun Gubernatorial Election will result in victory for our party, the PDP and its flagbearer, the next Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

4.   Osun is a PDP state and this is a fact that will be borne out by this election. There is a lot of disaffection in the state currently, and many of the citizens are looking to the PDP to turn things around. It is a rescue mission for which the candidate, Senator Adeleke is perfectly suited for and we shall see to it that through this election, our party shall deliver the desired result on September 22, so that we can bring succour to the people of Osun State.

5.   There is a tremendous amount of goodwill for the PDP and for the party’s candidate. It is for us as the Campaign Committe to ensure that we do everything possible to bring the Osun people to the polling booths on September 22, and we promise the party and all our supporters that we will not fail in this task. We shall bring out the Vote, massively, for the PDP in Osun, and our victory will be decisive.

6.   The Committee appreciates the enormity of the task and we will not fail. This is an assignment that is so crucial, one that will determine the direction of Osun, a crucial state in the South West, over the course of the next four years. It is also an election that will be a significant step forward in the march of the reinvigorated, refocused and re-energized PDP to reclaim the future of Nigeria as a whole. I say, again, that we shall not fail.

7.   The Campaign Committee intends will take the message of the the re-energized PDP to every nook and cranny of Osun State. We will sell our candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke to the Osun electorate in all the 30 Local Government Areas, in the three Senatorial Districts as well as all the 389 Wards in the state. The message is going forth and we as the Committee are leading the charge alongside the candidate. The PDP will sweep Osun State in this gubernatorial election – that is the result we will work for.

8.   In pursuing this mandate, we will strive always for a clean campaign. There will be no room for electoral malpractices or other negative conduct. We will ensure a free, fair and credible election that befits the party, the State and Nigeria as a whole. Senator Adeleke and the PDP will win Osun State because that is the best option in front of the people of the state at this time.

9. We will hit the ground running. The message of people-centered development, prosperity and improved standard of living for the good people of Osun State will be taken ton every home, every hamlet, village and towns in the State and I believe, Almighty God is with us on this task.

10. Once again, I thank you all for this opportunity, as the Campaign Committee sets to work on this very important assignment. The march to victory in Osun State, begins now.

Long Live the PDP.

Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria

God bless Nigeria.
